2011

2011 was an amazing year. I survived my first year living in New York City and actually made a living doing what I love. I picked up some great clients and finished off the year traveling to Egypt (which has been a lifelong dream of mine), Jordan, Malta, and Italy. I learned a lot, failed, and succeeded. Here are some of my favorite images and projects from 2011:

In early 2011, Egypt underwent a revolution, which resulted in the ousting of President Hosni Mubarak after nearly 30 years in power.

The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza Necropolis. It is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one to remain largely intact. Initially at 146.5 metres (480.6 ft), the Great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years.

Bdoul Mofleh, one of the last residents of Petra. Asked why he didn’t leave when the rest of his family were relocated to Umm Sayhoun, he replied, ‘Why would I? This is my home; I’ve always lived here.’ I had the honor of having tea at his home on my birthday and he told me that he was born in one of the caves near his home.
